Holiday Essentials #3 | On The Plane

My last essentials post is what I'm taking with me on the plane! As my flight will only take around 2 and a bit hours, this is catered to a short flight!

When flying, I like to go for full comfort not only physically but also mentally. I'm not the biggest fan of airports or airplanes so making sure that I'm comfortable in what I am wearing but also in the entertainment area, to distract myself, is important.

Rucksack - Boohoo
Comfy socks - Primark
Phone
Headphones
Lip Balm - Nivea Hydro Calm
Hand Wipes - Wet Ones
Book
Hair Brush
Hair Bands
Sunglasses (for off the plane!) - Topshop

I hope you enjoyed reading my 3 mini holiday essentials series! (To check out yesterdays and Wednesdays click here and here). I'm super excited right now because this time tomorrow I'll be in sunny Majorca! But whether you're going on holiday or not, I hope these essential posts where useful in some way!

Expect lots of pictures when I'm back.....

Today I'm going to show you my beach/pool essentials for all the times I'll be just relaxing by the pool or the beach!

When it comes to days by the pool or down at the beach, I don't like taking tons of stuff with me so I really try and narrow it down to the must-haves, from skincare to entertainment.

This is only a snippet of things that I'd take with me to the pool or beach. But the full list of things is here:

Rucksack - Boohoo
Swimwear - ASOS

Current Fashion Inspirations #2

A while ago I shared my current fashion inspirations. This went down rather well and so I thought I'd do a second, a more updated version although that doesn't mean I don't still love Louise Thompson's and Becca Rose's style (previously mentioned in my first current fashion inspirations).

1) Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens is probably the queen of boho. Her effortless, mix of pattern and colour outfits are so summer and festival appropriate. Her use of accessories really adds more texture and tone to her outfits, the silver rings, necklaces and bangles she is normally seen wearing complements her boho look.

2) Sammi aka The Beauty Crush
A popular Youtuber/Blogger who I've fallen in love with over the past month. Her style is so on trend and simplistic, which is something I've been loving at the moment. I love the way she uses monochrome and patterned pieces to create a look which looks so effortless and stylish. Check out Sammi's Youtube here and blog here

3) The Line Up
Another couple of Youtubers. I've been viewers of Maya and Julia's Youtube Channel, The Line Up, for around a year now and envy their clothes. Again, they have quite a simplistic style yet it works so well. Their laid back and chic outfits are so unique in the way that although what they were is on trend, the way they put together different pieces makes it look so different and edgy. All of their outfits are to die for! Check out more lookbooks and hauls on their youtube channel.

6 New Things For 6 Weeks Of Summer

(Courtesy of Pinterest)

The summer holidays are upon us and whether you've broken up from school for 6 weeks or are still working some days, spending this summer in a productive and new way is something that I am aiming to do.

I want to try new things, go to new places and learn something different, so I thought I'd put together a list of activities that I want to achieve, and what better way to share it than in a blog post!

1) Create a photo album
This is at the top of my list and if I accomplish this and nothing else I'll be happy. Nowadays, photos are normally just stored on computers, phones, tablets etc which are all so unreliable but keeping a collection of memories in an album is everlasting. So this summer I want to take lots of photos and keep them in an album so that years from now I can look back at these pictures that I may have deleted from my phone. A good habit to have!

2) Go camping
I'm not one for camping, however it doesn't just have to be rough. Camping with friends is a fun and new way to spend a night. Whether that's at a camping park with a load of others, a woods near a lake or even just in someone's back garden, I can imagine it being so much fun - smores, a campfire, star gazing..what more do you want?!

3) Have a tech free day
No phone, no computer, no tech for a whole. Sounds pretty hard but if those 100 years ago can do it then why can't we!? Do something with your family, or have a picnic outside. Cleanse and refresh with a tech free day.

4) Museum hop
I love museums, they're so interesting and don't always have to just be educational. Museums are so easy to find and I'd love to hop from museum to museum in a day. Although, it'd have to be on a cool day, I can't imagine travelling around on tubes etc on a boiling day.

5) Catch a train somewhere spontaneous
This is something that has always been attractive to me. I love the idea of just getting on a train and letting it take you somewhere new and exciting. Obviously I wouldn't love to be taken too far away, but going somewhere spontaneous, I think, can be way more fun than going somewhere you've been hundreds of times. Exploring new places is always a fun day.

6) Volunteer for a day
This is an activity that can be so detoxing and something which I am so eager to do. Doing volunteering in your local community is so rewarding and benefits not only your inner self but others around you.

My Go-To Make Up

When it comes to everyday makeup, I'm not one to spend hours on making up my face, although I do envy those that do but I just can never be bothered! Plus, as it's summer, I like to keep my makeup looking natural and very lightweight as there's nothing worse than having heavy and sticky makeup  on a hot day.

Products featured:

Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation in Ivory
Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in Light
MAC personalised palette
Rimmel London Lipstick in Coffee Shimmer
Eyebrwow Pencil in Blonde
Benefit Posie Tint blush
Benefit High Beam highlighter
Seventeen High Drama liquid liner

I have tried a lot of foundations this year, however I will always go back to my trusty Rimmel London Match Perfection. I defiantly think this is my favourite foundation - the coverage is lightweight and it lasts for such a long time. Also a favourite is the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer which is just a life-saver for dark eyes and in your face blemishes.

Brows, brows, brows. I'm currently using, and loving, a Collection waxy texture pencil in the colour Blonde and I think it may just be taking over my love for Soap and Glory's archery. The wax texture makes it so easy to blend and it's not heavy or too dark, so it's doesn't look too bold.

I have also been loving liquid blushes and highlighters, hence why I've been using these two little pots from Benefit. The blush is a lovely pinky and subtle colour and the highlighter gives off a wonderful glow. Because they're liquids, they're also SO easy to blend and last the day!

I did a whole blog post on my MAC eyeshadow palette which you can read here. It's such a great palette for getting a very subtle and natural eye look, which is something I love in the summer. Paring that with a thin winged liner, a coat of mascara and a brown lip is the perfect combination.

Festival Inspo ft ASOS

Being a massive music fan, it's no lie that I love festivals and have one in the calendar this year but I'm not here to show you festival music...instead I decided to go looking for festival inspo.

It is also no lie how much I love ASOS and after doing my favourite swimwear pieces from ASOS, I decided to do the same but amazing festival pieces. Unlike other shops, ASOS have so many different styles from 70s suede and fringe shorts to 60s bright and colourful tops, all are amazing for festivals.

I love festival fashion and this year it's been so spot on. I feel like it's your chance to wear that vintage shirt you purchased a while ago, or that massive flower crown!

These are my favourite 10 pieces from ASOS that, with a little more putting together, I would wear to any festivals.

Dresses and co-ords are so perfect to wear at festivals. They're care-free, comfortable and don't take up a lot of room in your backpack if you're sleeping over.

The weather is very unreliable in the UK, so rain appropriate clothing needs to be considered. Hopefully it isn't forecasted to rain on the day you're going to the festival, but if it is that doesn't mean you still can't look good. Wellies don't have to be a boring colour, these mint ones are SO adorable and perfect to dull up any day. Similarly, this rain coat is great if you don't want your amazing outfit that you've been planning for weeks to be hidden by a boring raincoat!

An outfit that I would normally go towards is a cute pair of denim shorts and a top. I love these ripped jeans with the brightly coloured embroidered patterns. This would go perfectly with the very 60s 'HAPPY' top and the mind wellies!

The other two tops are my absolute favourites, the monochrome floral gypsy crop top is so on trend and would look great with just a pair of black denim shorts and some round sunglasses. I also love the mesh with tassels top. As this is such a statement top, choosing something to wear on the bottom would be so simple.

But if you won't something a bit more extravagant, the blue patterned flared trousers are a must. I love the pattern, and the colours are so summery and perfect for a festival. Very coachelle-esque!

The Summer Sandal

Firstly I would like to apologise to anyone who doesn't enjoy looking at feet, because clearly you are about to see mine.

Anyway,  this blog post isn't about feet phobias, but instead about the most amazing summer sandals...

I am a HUGE fan of Public Desire, they do amazing designer dupes for affordable prices. So when I won a competition they hosted, I was thrilled that I was able to pick any shoe on the website (under £35 though...there's always a catch;)). I had my eyes on a pair of tie up sandals for a while now, and was going to buy them anyway for my holiday in August. So I was definitely going to get them now, especially as they were free!

When they came I was super duper impressed already. They felt sturdy and the minute I started to wear them, they were comfortable and easy to walk in.

Lace up sandals are so on trend at the moment, and these sandals go above and beyond that trend! I love how the straps are below knee hight; it adds such a twist to a standard pair of black sandals. Although, I can imagine it leaving a rather interesting looking sun tan...if worn for too long out in the sun!

Another thing that I love about these sandals is the suede texture. Again, suede is very much on trend and can be seen pretty much on every type of piece of clothing, so to have it on a shoe is perfect and really adds to that festival/cowgirl sorta vibe. The suede also means that it's very soft and comfortable against the skin.

All in all these shoes are amazing. They include everything I could ever ask for in a pair of sandals and by the end of the summer, these beauties will be well and truly worn out.

Waitrose 'Pure' Skincare Range

I am incredibly (and embarrassingly) lazy with my skincare so finding good and cheap products is so essential to me.

Whilst pottering around Waitrose a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon their 'pure' skincare range and was immediately intrigued. I'm not one to use supermarket skincare, but the packaging along with the '95% naturally derived ingredients' made me want to give it a go.

I stopped using makeup wipes a while ago...I had been converted! However, that doesn't mean that I did't want to give these makeup wipes a try. Being only a couple of pounds I am pleasantly surprised - they do the job perfectly. They're not too dry or wet, they remove all makeup effectively and they don't smell of any harsh chemicals. Although I will be going back to liquid based remover, I would definitely pick these up if I was in some sort of emergency!

I was also pleasantly surprised with the eye make up remover lotion. This product has such a lovely texture to it - it leaves the eye area feeling soft and not tight. It also removes the stubbornness of waterproof mascara and eyeliner which is even more helpful.

The last product is my favourite - the face polish. I am so impressed with this product. It does everything I'd ever want an exfoliater/cleanser to do - it leaves the skin feeling SO nourished and radiant, thanks to the shea butter and coconut oil, and throughly cleansed and clean. It's such a refreshing product and something that benefits very dry and sensitive skin. I would strongly recommend giving this a go.

Not all good things come at a high cost!

Summer Sunnies

What's summer without a pair of amazing sunglasses?! Well, in my case, 3 amazing sunglasses...

When the sun appears I take advantage of this and whip out my sunglasses immediately. I love wearing sunglasses, and these 3 are my all-time favs. I find that the right pair of sunglasses for an outfit can instantly transform your look, finishing it off and adding an extra bit of a  summer touch.

Although I love every type of sunglasses, I don't like spending too much money on them. Unless I fall in love with a really expensive, designer pair that I literally cannot live without, I normally stick to cheap and cheerful but STILL chic. These 3 are from Missguided and ASOS.

Cat -eye sunglasses are such a trend at the moment. From black to white the frames are so elegant and chic, changing a bland outfit to an interesting and high-end look with just an add of a pair of sunnies. These plain black Missguided ones are perfect in just doing that, they make me feel 100% more confident and look amazing with any outfit.

Rounded sunglasses are also huge at the moment. SO perfect for festivals and that 'desert/cowgirl' trend going on currently. I adore these two. I love the tortoise shell pattern on the brown pair, which are from ASOS. They go perfectly with any nude outfit and really stand out. The white thin (very much Elton John-esque) sunnies are, again, amazing. The contrast between the white rim and the black glass is so on point, they go with every outfit and I get so many complements when wearing these.

So as you can tell, I love these sunglasses....where would I be without them!?
