Making Red Velvet Cakes (the easy way)

As satisfying as it feels baking a yummy tray of cakes, it is incredibly messy and time-consuming. I must say, I'm not the biggest fan of baking as I'm very lazy and would rather just get some cakes from the corner shop but when I have nothing else to do, baking does seem quite fun.

Something that is very easy but still produces amazing cakes are, what I like to call, 'cheat cakes'. You know, the ready mixed cake packets?! I found my favourite cake, red velvet, in a cheat cupcake form in Sainsburys and knew I had to get it.

It was so incredibly easy to make and they tasted just as incredible.

Talking About Swimwear ft ASOS

Now that we're in the midst of June, looking at swimwear is definitely appropriate, although it seems a bit unfair when the weather outside is pretty awful.

ASOS have an incredibly range of swimwear, for all body shapes, all styles and all colours. It's the first place I look when I start searching for a couple of bikinis or swimsuits for the holiday season.

I found 9 types of swimwear, on ASOS, to share with you. I love all of these and totally would buy all of them if I was going on a 9 week holiday! If you are stuck for swimwear, definitely check ASOS out. They cater for everyone.

The Bikini

The standard bikini. What I love about bikinis is that you can mix and match bottoms to tops and ASOS allows you to do just this! But, I did find 3 matching sets that I adore.

Tassels are so in right now. I've seen them being added to literally any piece of clothing, so this bikini is so on trend. Although it is just plain black, the top is so statement that you can get away with it! If you wanted to, you could match this top with a brightly coloured or patterned bikini bottom which would look fab.

This mermaid bikini  is so adorable and something that I'd go straight for. I love to go for something a bit more 'different' and 'adventurous' with any swimwear, I feel like going on holiday abroad is somewhere you'd be able to get away with this fun bikini. The colour is so beautiful and although it is quite simple, it's just a stand out bikini due to the 'mermaid scale' pattern. This one is definitely my favourite.

Lastly is this simple but interesting monochrome wrap bikiniThis bikini is so simple yet the block of white and black contrast creates a more flattering and interesting look. The wrap detailing also makes this bikini stand out.

 The Swimsuit

Swimsuits are amazing if you're not too confident about your stomach being on show, however that doesn't mean that you have to wear a boring swimsuit?! ASOS do so many fun and colourful swimsuits with interesting detailing and the ever so flattering plunge neck line. I have fallen in love with these 3.

This white swimsuit looks pretty standard from the front...however the back is so beautiful. The straps are braided and cross over leaving a pattern on an otherwise plain swimsuit. Although you may want to avoid being in the sun for too long wearing this, the cross over tan lines would be awful! As for the neck line, all 3 are quite daring but this sort of neckline is flattering for any body shape and chest size!

This sequin swimsuit is my absolute favourite. I love everything about it. It's such a statement and unique swimsuit. The different colour sequins create a very mermaid-esque look, perfect for swimming in the sea! This is the most daring neck line, but it's totally worth it.

Last is another monochrome look. More of a simplistic swimsuit but so flattering. I adore the sharp v neckline and the added lines of white. I don't know why, but this swimsuit just looks very chic and somewhat elegant.

The High-wasted

The high waisted bikini first came about in the 1960s and has stuck ever since. I am in love with these bikinis because the high waisted bottom means any problem areas are covered, however it still allows skin to be shown before the top which is so flattering.

The first is the pastel gem set. I love how girly and cute this bikini is. The pastel gems add a fun addition to an otherwise dull set. Plus, the strapless option for the top means no more strap tan lines!

Next is this purple and black number. A spin off on the triangl bikinis, the colour with the added bold lines makes this bikini such a stand out choice.

And lastly is this blue and white gingham set. When I saw this I fell in love with it. I love the pattern and the love heart shape of the top. Very Dorthory-esque!

Everyday Eyeshadows ft MAC

Are these the best eyeshadows to create the perfect everyday eye look?

Yes.

The minute my eyes met with these 4 warm, neutral tones from MAC I knew that I'd be hooked. If I'm honest, I've never tried the eyeshadows from MAC but after using these 4 I will be looking more into them. They're so blend-able, pigmented and create the perfect everyday, natural look which I am loving at the moment.

I like to use omega as the blending shade, ensuring that all the other colours used blend together nicely and just create a smooth finish. Then, I'll apply the pinky, shimmery shade sable all over my lid. This colours is so pigmented and looks so pretty for this season. In the crease and outer lid I use characoal which is a much darker brown than omega. To finish off I apply shroom in the inner corners and brow bone, just to highlight.

The brush is the 217 blending brush which is amazing. How I've been blending my eyeshadow without this I do not know! It's fluffy, soft and leaves the eyeshadows looking well blended.

5 Tips To 'Make The Most Of It'

We all love a lazy day. Spending every minute of a Sunday in pjs with netflix on is probably one of the best ways to spend a dull day. BUT as tempting as this may sound, it's way more rewarding to get up and make the most out of the day.

I thought it would be fun to share with you my top 5 tips to make the most of it. Hopefully this will inspire you to get out of bed and do something different. Enjoy!

1) Plan Your Day
This is something I regularly do. I find that if my day is planned out, then I'm more motivated to get things done. Whether that's to tidy my room, write a blog post or bake a cake, it'll give me something to get out of bed for, and once I get going, I won't want to stop!

2) Organise Something Exciting
Organising something exciting to do in the day is my biggest motivation to make the most of it. Doing something exciting, like having a day trip to the beach or going on a picnic with friends is going to brighten up your day and make you excited to do it again, or start 'living more'. Even if you don't want to go galavanting around, spending the day with friends is just as fun as exploring the outside.

3) Try Something New
I'm not a great lover of trying new things, especially when it comes to food, however I find that if I do something that I've ever done before, the outcome is great and I'll want to do it again. Trying something new is a brilliant way to make the most of your day, because not only are you doing/eating/exploring something you never imagined you would, you're also creating a more positive mindset to do different things regularly and therefore stopping a mind block of thinking that you can only do what you're familiar with. If you want to go out and try something you've never done before, do it! I'm sure 99% of the time it'll be SO worth it.

4) Set Realistic Goals
It's all well and good setting goals for yourself to complete during the day, but if they're not achievable, then it's just going to dampen your mood and make you think 'what a waste of a day that was'. For example, writing 2 blog posts is a realistic goal, however writing 10 blog posts is less of a realistic goal, especially if you want to achieve other things during the day as well. Setting realistic goals will help you believe that you get things done to the best of your ability and therefore everyday this realistic goals will inspire you to keep getting out of bed and doing things worthwhile.

5) Constantly Inspire Yourself
This is probably the worst tip that I'm good at. I do let things dampen my spirit very easily and when I do, my inspiration decreases dramatically. But when this does happen, I like to get back up and find new ways to inspire myself. I like to look at pinterest, bloglovin' and twitter to bring my inspiration back up and continue the day on a high. We all need a bit of inspiration now and then, and inspiring ourselves is important to ensure that we get things done to the best of our ability. Inspiration is amazing at helping us get things done to make the most of a dull day, if you see something that inspires you the you're more likely to try and do something similar.
“You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.”

See you soon.

The Best Nail Polishes

I am a massive nail polish horder. I have so many from all different brands, of all different colours BUT I have finally found my favourites; the best of all the rest. Champneys, in 5 colours plus an amazing top and base coat.

After using Champneys' amazing bath and shower products, I was delighted that one of my good friends had given me 6 Champneys nail polishes for my birthday. Knowing that their bath and shower products were amazing, I was excited to try these nail polishes.

All the colours are so vibrant, long wearing and so pretty. The variety of colours are also perfect for any season! I will definitely be purchasing more Champneys nail polish.

My Favourite Drug-Store Makeup Products

As much as I love using high end make up, I do mostly use those from the drugstore mainly because it's not ridiculously expensive, and most of the time, it does the same job as something from MAC or Benefit for example.

These make up products are my all time favourites, I've been using all of these products for years and never gone back!

Eyeshadows - Sleek Au Natural Palette
This palette is perfect for a natural eyeshadow look. With a mixture of matte and shimmery, cold to hot toned shadows, it makes finding a natural everyday makeup look so easy. I will always use this palette if I want a more subtle look but saying that, there are a few darker shades for a night out look. It's the perfect all-rounder!

Brushes - Eco-tools
These brushes were the first I ever bought and I'm still using them! Obviously they've lasted a VERY long time and they're still in tip-top condition. The three shown in the picture are the powder brush, foundation brush (which I use for contour) and concealer brush. They're probably my favourite brushes - they're so soft and apply makeup flawlessly.

Lipsticks - Kate Moss
I'm such a fan of Kate Moss lipsticks by Rimmel London - the variety of shades makes it so easy to pick up any colour and the long-lasting wear is perfect. This red colour (no.22) is my favourite of all the Kate Moss lipsticks. It's such a vibrant colour which never fails to impress me.

Foundation - Rimmel London Match Perfection
My favourite foundation! I think this was the first foundation I ever bought and obviously have never gone back. It comes in so many different colours, so you really can get your perfect match, and it feels so light on the skin and looks flawless. I will always recommend this foundation because it really is amazing.

Eyebrows - Archery by Soap&Glory
I absolutely love this eyebrow product. It's so easy to apply and the felt tip on one end and the pencil on the other is such a unique add to it. It's so easy to use and it's perfect to make my preferred eyebrow look.

Eyeliner - Seventeen High Drama
This is actually a recent buy but it's the first eyeliner that I've really got on with. It's so easy to apply due to the tiny nip and the black is very strong, so I don't need to apply a few coats on top. My love for eyeliner has come back thanks to this product.

Concealers - Collection Lasting Perfection
Who hasn't heard of this concealer?! I've been using this concealer for so long and I think it will always be my favourite concealer! I find it incredibly light on the skin, it doesn't crease and it's long-wearing. I reckon I'm on my fifth tube this year!

See you soon.
