What Would Audrey Do? | Lifestyle

Audrey Hepburn. Everyone knows of her, everyone wants to look like her and everyone looks up to her and when I got the chance to go to the Audrey Hepburn exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, I was ecstatic.

I knew even before going to the exhibition that I wanted some sort of book to keep as a memo, whether that would be an autobiography or a collection of photographs. But when I saw 'What Would Audrey Do?' I immediately picked it up.

Everything about this book is so special. Starting with the cover, that drew me towards it to begin with, I feel in love with the delicate font, the black and red (very Hepburn-esque) colour and then the selling point: 'Timeless Lessons for Living with Grace and Style'. Being a 21st century, modern teen the fashion of living with grace, I think, has disappeared to an extent. Personally, style and grace is what I live for!

The inside is separated into 10 categories of situations, circumstances and personal things that allow you to understand, literally, what Audrey would do. For example, the fashion and personal appearance chapter which is my personal favourite, tells you how to do your hair, makeup, how to dress like Audrey would. Now, I'm completely all about the 'do you' trend but if, like me, you look up to Audrey Hepburn it's lovely to have an insight into how she dressed and what styles and makeup she was into.

It's not all about what's on the outside, in fact, what I love a lot about this book, is that most of the chapters are based on things that everyone goes through like work struggles, heartbreak and romance, for example, so it's such a useful book for gaining tips as well as knowing what to do if Hepburn was in that situation! Although, because the society when she was alive and in her younger days is a LOT different to how it is know so some of the points I don't necessarily agree with, like not being allowed to ask a boy out which is incredibly old fashioned if I do say so myself, but overall I think it's more of a book that helps you and guides into making more morally, accepted decisions.

I'll sit down with a cup of tea with this book and could read it over and over again. It's not one of those books that you can only read once and it's also not one of those books that you have to read book to front. If I need some advice, I'll just pick the relevant chapter and read that! That's is why it's the perfect book - there's no right or wrong way of reading it.

I would recommend this book strongly, especially if you're not a heavy reader. It's written beautifully, the advice is so helpful and overall it's just an amazing insight into the mind of an amazing woman.

Personally, I love using earthy colours, so browns and dark purple with black eyeliner. This is my go-to look throughout Autumn and it never gets old for me. Collections 'Gothic...' on the lips and shimmery, matte browns on the eyes are my favourite combination. What's yours?

How To Manage Studying And Blogging | Lifestyle

Managing Studying and Blogging - it may sound simple, but unless you've tried you will never understand.

I started my blog last year when I was in the early stages of my AS levels which, of course, are incredibly tough and time-consuming. Anyone who's gone through a levels won't deny that. So I had NO idea that blogging would take up so much of my time and I had to be devoted to my studying because a levels are pretty darn important! Throughout the year I felt like I gradually became a lot more successful at managing my time and finding the balance between studying and blogging, although it was difficult as I would MUCH rather blog that study for obvious reasons.

For me, keeping that balance wasn't something that I could just get away with lightly, in fact I had to find different ways to either take a break from studying and do something on my blog or the other way round (most of the time it was this way round!). As I undertake on what many say is the 'hardest year of your life'; A2 levels,  managing studying and blogging is something I really need to keep up and for those of you in the same position as me, or finds it hard to balance different priorities, I've put together my top 4 tips for managing studying and blogging:

1) To Do Lists Are Your New Best Friend
Strangely, I have become quite obsessed with creating to do lists. They're so perfect at getting realistic about what you need getting done and when. It's also so satisfying ticking/crossing a task off when it's finally done.

2) Create A Timetable
Nothing screams 'I am organised and can manage my time well' than a timetable. By creating a weekly timetable, you'll be able to manage what needs to be done for what day or what you're doing on each day so you're able to work out when you're free/not free to write a blog post or finish that essay and get it completed swiftly!

3) Be Realistic and Fair
As much as I would like to think that I can get 3 essays done, 4 blog posts written and revision for a test completed in a weekend. It's just not realistic what-so-ever. Make sure you understand how much you can actually do, not how much you'd like to do. Also, if I'm blogging and I know that I actually have an essay due in tomorrow then this isn't being very sensible and so prioritising more important things, like school work, is going to be a lot more realistic than taking photos for a post!

4) Use Time
By this, I mean recognise how long things are going to take and prioritise the longer-taking tasks. So, and essay would normally take me around 2-3 hours so I would have to prioritise this over writing a blog post which would take much quicker than that. Time is your friend! So use it wisely!

New In - A Little Beauty Haul

I feel like I've been away for such a long time! Not only have I been away to Yorkshire for the week, I've also been hit with the very awful writer's block bug) which I'm sure we're all guilty of getting) but now I'm feeling back on track and ready to get started with some new content.

Over the last couple of weeks, I have picked up some random beauty bits and thought I would share them in this post!

Lash Sensational Mascara
After seeing the advert for this a million times I gave in and bought it. Although I wasn't 100% sure on it when I first gave it a try, it really is growing on me. With the right technique, the mascara can make your eyelashes look so lovely and elongated. Plus, it's waterproof!

Sleek Matte Me Lipgloss in Birthday Suit
I've written a completely separate blog post on this lipgloss so you can check that out here if you want to find out how I feel about it! (Hint: I LOVE it and you should too!)

MAC Studio Fix Concealer
I'm not usually a regular shopper at MAC, I've had good and bad experiences with their product but I've wanted to splash out on a really good concealer to use as a highlighter for such a long time and when I was in duty free coming home from my holiday, I decided to treat myself. So far I have been loving this, the coverage is perfect and it manages to stay stuck for the whole day.

Eylure 'Volume' Falsies
Eylure are my absolute favourite brand of eyelashes and so I decided to pick up another pack of falsies. I went for something new and a bit more dramatic so the 'Volume' pair stood out to me. I've worn these a couple of times and I've always gotten a lot of compliments!
